About Alex
Hello, I'm Alex! I'm a second year English student at York University, who has written poetry and plays (and had some of them performed), while achieving two 9's and two A*'s in English at GCSE and A-level respectively. I have sat many times in classrooms and study sessions made boring or incomprehensible by teachers and long stints of reading aloud, and instead wish to engage creatively while instilling my passion and depth of knowledge.
Having my own exam papers sent out as upper-level examples, I'm more than familiar of what examiners are looking for. And as a student who initially struggled with reading, I know what steps need to be taken to achieve both confidence and excellence.

Tutor sessions will be built around increasing individual skill and aptitude: unpicking exam questions, how to question texts and build answers that push any necessary grade boundary.
A student's individual learning style will form the backbone of their lessons structure. Whether an explanatory, visual or more creative learner, particular attention will be directed towards reinforcing weaker areas and sharpening individual strengths.
My personal strengths are poetry, creative and essay writing, with an intricate knowledge of curriculum and expected exam responses. While my expertise is particularly at GCSE and A-Level, I also possess an in-depth knowledge of KS3 expectations and aims.
