About Om
I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering at one of the UK’s top 10 universities for engineering, where mathematics and physics are central to my degree. However, I was not always confident in these subjects.
When I was 9, I would get taken out of class for additional maths support alongside a small group of students who were finding the subject quite difficult.
At 13, I tried to move into my school’s extended maths class because I wanted to challenge myself academically. My request was immediately rejected because of my poor marks.
At 16, despite not meeting the entry requirements, I decided I wanted to study Higher Level Mathematics (AA) in the IB. I was initially refused, and when I eventually persuaded my school to let me sit an entry test, I failed it completely.
I asked for one more opportunity and eventually earned my place in the class. From there, my performance improved significantly, and I began achieving strong results.
In my experience, I know that ability in Maths or Physics is not fixed. My progress came through perseverance and hard work, but also through having the right guidance and encouragement.
I know first-hand how valuable a good tutor can be, and I hope to be a steady source of support and encouragement for any student willing to improve.

Having completed the IB programme, achieved a grade 7/7 in Physics, and spent a summer studying Mathematics on-site at the University of Oxford, I am keen to support students in developing their problem-solving skills and confidence.
As a tutor, my approach is patient, structured, and tailored to each student. I focus on breaking challenging topics down into manageable steps and explaining the reasoning behind each method, rather than encouraging formula memorisation.
Lessons are aimed at secondary school students and will typically last around 60 minutes, with a focus on providing personalised learning, addressing areas of difficulty, applying concepts through practice, and thorough exam preparation (with past-paper questions and effective revision strategies).
I believe that competence in subjects like Maths and Physics is not simply innate, but can be developed through consistent practice and the right guidance.
