About Joshua
Hi I'm Josh, I am a current undergraduate at New College, University of Oxford reading French and German.
My aim in offering tuition is to support students at all stages of their academic life, and offer an extra level of help to those who are either struggling or those who want an extra push beyond their current level. I have been tutoring other students since secondary school, and have worked in one-to-one as well in group settings.
As a student myself, I get the struggles that other students are facing, especially concerning language learning or English Literature.

I believe in a personalised approach to tutoring, so each student will receive an individual 'timetable' that will cover a 6 week block, breaking down each session. This way students can see how each session links to the next. For example for French and German, students may highlight that the past tense is a particular issue, my approach would be to start off with the grammar itself, then look at recognition (reading/listening) and move on to use (writing and speaking) in a range of contexts. Likewise for English Literature, students may highlight that close reading is an issue, so my approach here would be to look at a range of unrelated texts and move away from 'feature picking' and more towards why is this interesting etc.
Each session will be around 1 hour.
I am a current French and German undergraduate at Oxford University. At A level, I attained two A*s in French and English Literature and an A in German. At GCSE I attained the following: Ten 9s (Including Maths, English, Science and languages) one 8 and a Distinction.
Lessons are aimed at KS3, GCSE and A level students, who are looking for exam preparation or as a way to improve their foundations in the 4 main skills of French and German (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). Equally for English Literature tuition, the sessions focus on close reading, as well as essay writing more generally.
