About Danece
Anyone with a desire to learn the violin can achieve what they envision with the right support and instruction. This philosophy can be aligned with the motto by violin pedagogue Shinichi Suzuki, "Every child can." In playing music, we must all be children at heart, willing to learn. A child learns their mother language by ear. So, in the Suzuki method, all students learn music by ear as well. This promotes proper physical technique, being well aware of the sound instead of notes on a page. Note reading is introduced once the technical foundation is solidified.
I work with my intermediate and advanced students to prepare them for auditions, competitions, festivals, and other musical endeavors. Their musical repertoire is expanded through later Suzuki books, supplemental Etude and scale books, and other pieces that help to improve technique and personal expression.
Maintaining an atmosphere of encouragement with students at every level is of the utmost importance. When approaching a problem, we focus on one concept at a time—helping the student discover step by step how to improve both in lessons and during individual practice. Knowing how to isolate areas of improvement through careful practice, observation, and listening, is the key to success.
Parental involvement is necessary for a child's natural musical development. It is my top priority to include the parents in every part of the learning process, which includes attendance at lessons and involvement in their practice at home. In this way each student can reach their full potential through a positive learning environment nurtured by both the parent and teacher.

DaNece Lyman is a Registered Violin Teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. DaNece grew up as a Suzuki student in Cary, North Carolina and has been an active Suzuki teacher since 2008.
DaNece Lyman holds degrees in violin performance from the University of Redlands (Artist Diploma), Boise State University (M.M.), and Brigham Young University (B.M.). Her private teachers include Sam Fischer, Craig Purdy, and Monte Belknap. DaNece has performed with the Boise Philharmonic, Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, Redlands Symphony Orchestra, Ballet West Orchestra, and Orchestra at Temple Square. Her performing has taken her to Italy, Slovenia, and Spain where she played with the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, and as concertmaster with the Inland Master Chorale and Orchestra.
DaNece maintains a private studio of in person and online students. She has also enjoyed coaching young chamber music groups as a faculty member with the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute. DaNece is passionate about the philosophy of continual learning with a deep appreciation for the mentorship she has received through her teacher training. Her students benefit from a positive learning environment filled with innovative approaches to skill development and mastering new pieces.
