About Luke
I am a Computer Science and Data Science graduate with experience helping college students work through programming, database, and statistics coursework. I specialize in turning complicated material into clear, logical steps so students understand both how to solve a problem and why the solution works. My goal is not just to complete an assignment, but to help you build the reasoning skills needed for exams and future classes.
I maintain a professional, patient, and structured tutoring environment. I prepare for sessions, communicate clearly, and adapt explanations to your learning style and level of experience. Whether you are new to coding or struggling with a specific project, I will meet you where you are and help you gain confidence and independence in the material.

I’m a Computer Science and Data Science graduate who specializes in helping college students understand technical material in a clear, step-by-step way. My approach is not just to solve problems for you, but to make sure you understand why the solution works so you can confidently handle similar questions on exams and future assignments.
My teaching method
I focus on breaking complicated concepts into smaller logical pieces. Most students don’t struggle because they aren’t smart — they struggle because classes move quickly and assume background knowledge that was never fully explained. I identify exactly where the confusion starts and rebuild the concept from there using simple explanations, diagrams, and real examples.
When working through coding or math problems, I teach by reasoning out loud. Instead of dumping a finished answer, I guide you through how to think about the problem:
what the question is actually asking
how to choose an approach
how to check if the result makes sense
how to debug when it doesn’t work
Students leave sessions able to do the next assignment on their own.
What a typical session looks like
A normal lesson is interactive. We start with the specific homework, project, or exam topic you’re stuck on. I first identify what part is confusing, then we solve one example together step-by-step. After that, I have you explain the idea back to me in your own words — this quickly locks in understanding and prepares you for exams.
For coding sessions, we:
Understand the problem
Plan the solution before writing code
Implement clean, readable code
Debug together
Review how to recognize similar problems later
You will not just get the answer — you will know how to get the answer again.
What sets me apart
Many tutors are either too theoretical or they simply give solutions. I focus on practical understanding. I’ve helped students who thought they “just couldn’t code” go on to pass their courses once the logic finally clicked.
I’m especially good at:
explaining programming logic to beginners
debugging confusing errors
translating professor terminology into plain English
preparing students for exams and practical assignments
I’m patient, non-judgmental, and used to working with students under deadline pressure.
Who I tutor
I primarily help college students and advanced high school students in technical courses, including:
Computer Science
Intro to Programming (Python, Java, C++)
Data Structures
Algorithms basics
Debugging assignments
Object-oriented programming
Data & Analytics
SQL / Databases
Data analysis in Python (Pandas)
R and statistics courses
Data visualization
Excel data analysis
Math & Statistics
Discrete math
Probability
Intro statistics
Regression basics
I am especially helpful for:
first-year CS majors
students switching into tech majors
business analytics / information systems students
anyone preparing for a coding assignment or exam
If you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or feel like lectures move too fast, I can help you break it down and actually understand the material.
