About Christie
I am a 17-year-old violin student who is looking to gain more experience in teaching violin to young children. I hope to spread the love and genuine interest in violin to them, helping them to build a love for music through violin that can last a lifetime. I believe that playing music is pointless if you do not like it and are just playing for the sake of it. There is a huge difference when you are really interested and passionate about the instrument, and that can bring a young music student far in their music journey.

I am a diploma violin student who have been under the tutelage of Wolfgang Violin Studio, Belcanto Violin Studio as well as Kids' Philharmonic Orchestra. I am also a member of the first violin of Singapore Polytechnic's string ensemble. I have also been given opportunities to be the concertmistress/ first violin section leader of the Kids Philharmonic Orchestra and Wolfgang Young Artiste Orchestra on numerous occasions. Additionally, I was an intern at the Kids Philharmonic Orchestra, where I worked closely with young children.
I have 1 year of teaching experience teaching an 11 year old beginner violin. I teach using the Suzuki Violin Method, which is internationally renowned and recognised for helping young violin students build a strong foundation for the instrument. Depending if the student wants to go for violin exams, I will also teach scales, etudes and musicianship skills. To build a strong foundation in violin, I would also have to teach all students basic music theory. Additionally, to make lessons fun for the students, I will also teach duets to the student, which many young students enjoy.
A typical lesson would be either 45 minutes or 1 hour and my rates are $40-$50/hour, depending on the location. I am looking to go to student's place at the north-east area to teach violin. Alternatively, lessons can also be taught at my place, which is within a 1 minute walk from Kovan MRT.
