I have toured and performed across Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Montreal, and New York — even sharing the stage with Rick Ocasek, who later went on to form the legendary band The Cars. These experiences shaped the way I teach today. My hands-on approach ensures that every student truly understands the material, without pressure or shortcuts. I believe there’s no such thing as a bad question — only the one you don’t ask. 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I developed my passion for music early in life, growing up around sound, performance, and expression. Music wasn’t just something I listened to—it was something I felt. Over time, that passion turned into a lifelong pursuit of mastering the voice.

My primary instrument is the human voice. It’s the most personal and powerful instrument there is—because it’s directly connected to who you are. No two voices are the same, and that’s what makes it so special.
2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
I can listen to soul, R&B, and classic vocal-driven music all day. Artists like Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway never get old to me.

What keeps me locked in isn’t just the songs—it’s the emotion, storytelling, and vocal control. That’s the level I train my students to understand and reach.
3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
The most challenging—and most transformative—course I offer is Artist Development combined with Advanced Vocal Control.

This goes beyond hitting notes. We break down:

Vocal strength and endurance
Emotional delivery
Stage presence
Finding your true sound
It’s difficult because it forces you to grow not just as a singer, but as an artist and person. That’s where real breakthroughs happen.
4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
The most complicated instrument is the voice—hands down.

There are no buttons, no strings, no external controls. Your instrument is tied to your:

Breath
Body
Emotions
Confidence
That means if your mindset is off, your voice reflects it. Mastering your voice means mastering yourself.
5) What are your keys to success?
My keys are simple, but powerful:

Consistency over talent
Confidence built through preparation
Understanding your unique sound—not copying others
Discipline in practice, freedom in performance
And most importantly: never stop growing. Even at a high level, there’s always another layer to unlock.
6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
Prince — for his creativity and fearlessness as an artist
Whitney Houston — for vocal excellence and emotional power
Jay-Z — for understanding the business side of artistry
That conversation would be about music, mindset, and legacy—not just talent.
7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
One of the biggest lessons I learned early on was this:

I saw incredibly talented singers struggle—not because they lacked ability, but because they lacked confidence and direction.

At the same time, I saw less experienced singers rise quickly because they were coach-able, consistent, and willing to grow.

That changed how I teach forever. Talent is just the starting point—development is what creates results.
