About Raenesha
I am Dr. Raenesha Sheppard, and I have over fifteen years of experience working in education. I have served as a high school English teacher, college professor (undergraduate and graduate), K-12 Director of Literacy, and school leader.
I am skilled at helping students from diverse backgrounds with different learning abilities improve their reading and writing skills. I have a deep understanding of the Common Core standards, standardized test criteria for success in reading and writing, and college-level rigor.
I am a supportive and results-driven educator. I believe that strong instruction that is tailored to the learner's needs is highly effective and it yields results quickly.

As an experienced English teacher and professor, I have over fifteen years of experience working with students from kindergarten through college from diverse backgrounds and with different learning abilities.
My lessons are driven by the data gathered from an assessment of the student's most crucial need(s). I then prepare a targeted model of the focus skill along with an exemplar for students to unpack essential components. Students will then have multiple reps of skill practice, followed by the opportunity to independently practice and measure mastery.
For essays and dissertation guidance, I assess a recent writing sample and use that along with what the student or parent expresses as a need to guide our work. Students are then given an exemplar to unpack essential qualities, and then we practice by applying the criteria from the exemplar to the student's writing assignment. Support is provided for constructing outlines and finding and incorporating evidence.
