About Olwen
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a professional actress and have worked with companies such as the National Theatre, RSC, The West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Young Vic and The Royal Exchange Theatre. Television work includes "The Bay", "Slow Horses", "Riot Women", “Vera” “Happy Valley”and " A Very British Scandal". I am a regular contributor to BBC Radio Drama. I am also a professional theatre director specialising in new work.
I am a qualified Feldenkrais movement practitioner which greatly helps my understanding of movement nuance in an acting context.
I have worked one to one with many students both as an aid to building confidence with spoken English and also preparing people for auditions, interviews and public speaking.I have taught drama at Degree and Post grad level at, Manchester University, Huddersfield University and Nottingham University, University of Bolton ,the University of Salford and Bretton Hall college.
My work with groups includes workshops in prisons, hospitals (particularly mental health units), offices, schools, museums and adult learning centres. I have experience of tutoring people for whom English is a second language and I also have experience of working with students who are dyslexic.

I have been working as a professional actor/teacher/director for over forty years. I specialise in working with underconfident students who need a lot of support and sound technique, and actors who are navigating the world of Zoom and self-taping.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Acting, Drama School and University auditions, sight reading, audition and self tape technique for professionals. Public speaking (weddings, funerals, public events) interview techniques, presentation skills, pronunciation coaching for non-native speakers, coaching for writers to read their work publicly.
Preparation for graded TRINITY Speech, Drama and Communications Skills exams. Feldenkrais for actors.

B.A. (Hons) Drama and English U.E.A
European Training Feldenkrais Professional Accreditation.
Former Trinity Guildhall examiner.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35/ £40 for an hour's session. It is worth contacting me to see if I can work out a sliding scale of fees for you. Group lessons of more than four people is £15 each.
- Where do you teach?
I teach mainly at my home in Hebden Bridge for one to one work and also teach on Zoom, Skype and FaceTime. I can travel for group work.
- When are you available?
I teach mainly Tuesday to Thursday but try to maintain a flexible schedule and can occasionally work some other days and evenings. It is not always possible to do the same time and day every week but I will always aim to fit you in!

Adult degree level.

Trinity College graded exams.
