About India
I've trained in theatre and the arts for most of life which has allowed me to be fun, gentle and empathetic in my teaching abilities. I don't take the lessons too seriously and leave room for creative exploration if there are areas of interest to the student. As a child, I had a multitude of different tutors as I regularly struggled in academia in school, not because of my ability but due to confidence issues and dissatisfaction with the teaching styles I was presented with at school. This has allowed my tutoring approach to be informed by my own experiences and ensure I create an environment that prioritises confidence-building and nurtures my students. If particular teaching styles don't work for some, I work with my students to adapt my approach and make sure they are getting the most out of our tutoring sessions.
I have loved being a tutor as well as a director and dance teacher because it allows me to learn and grow just as much as my students do. I find it incredibly rewarding being able to watch my students on their academic or creative journeys and intend to be a mentor for them. My ethos is always to push my students in the directions they wish to go in rather then pushing them to mould to a curriculum that fundamentally doesn't represent all children/students. I believe we should celebrate the differences in the curriculum and through this make sure that, no matter the approach, we guide and inspire the next generation to push their own abilities to flourish.

My teaching approach is as relaxed and open as possible. I believe that learning is not linear and is not tackled in the same way for everyone. I offer a creative and hands-on approach to ensure that the tasks do not feel overwhelming for my students. I ensure I am seen as their equal and create an environment in which we can learn and grow together so that my students do not feel isolated or demotivated in their learning.
I have worked as a dance teacher for several years in my youth and also as a theatre director during my time at University. The skills and approaches that one must master in such practical workspaces are incredibly transferable, although many do not realise this. The ability to keep a space motivated when the environment becomes stressful; learning and improving ways of explanation to accommodate people of all-abilities in the room; and ensuring each student is engaged and comfortable in a space are some of the key skills I bring to my tutoring lessons.
I believe prime lesson times are done in 45 minute intervals with 10 minute breaks, however, these timings are flexible as everyone learns at a different speed and focus-levels are unique to individuals. I work predominantly with children aged 11+ of all levels and abilities.
