About Emma
I have a Guitar Performance Certificate from the Nashville Music Institute and 8 years of experience teaching guitar to students of all ages and skill levels. I'm particularly good at working with complete beginners who have never touched a guitar before and helping them feel confident and successful from their very first lesson. My teaching approach uses research-proven methods like immediate correction during practice, which helps students develop good technique much faster than waiting to fix problems later. I create personalized lesson plans that match each student's musical interests and learning speed. Many of my students are surprised at how quickly they can play songs they recognize and love. I provide detailed practice guides and can even record parts of lessons for students to review at home.

Guitar lessons focus on teaching you how to hold the guitar comfortably and make your first sounds without any pain or strain. I demonstrate everything clearly first, then we practice together slowly, and finally you try it on your own while I help you fix small problems before they become bad habits. We start with simple chords and rhythms that let you play recognizable songs quickly, because playing music you enjoy keeps you motivated to practice. Lessons are designed around the type of music you like - whether that's pop songs, rock music, folk songs, or anything else. We set clear, achievable goals for each lesson and celebrate when you reach them. I also give you specific practice instructions for home that make improvement happen faster. Everything is taught at a pace that feels comfortable, and we can always slow down or speed up based on how you're feeling and learning.
