About Sophie
I’m a devoted vocal coach and music educator with 7+ years of experience teaching students how to sing with both technique and heart. My approach combines vocal physiology with a deep appreciation for musical expression. We’ll work on healthy habits such as efficient breath use, tone control, and vocal resonance, but also spend time developing stage presence, emotional interpretation, and personal connection to the material. Whether you’re singing Broadway ballads, indie acoustic songs, gospel solos, or your own original music, my lessons are tailored to support your voice as it truly is—not force it into a mold. I frequently use recording software, loopers, and digital accompaniment to help singers hear themselves objectively and celebrate progress over time. For students preparing for auditions or performances, I offer coaching in song selection, character work, and mental preparation. We also explore harmonizing, improvisation, and even basic keyboard skills to support songwriting or independent practice. I teach with encouragement, structure, and genuine excitement for my students’ growth. Many of my students have gone on to lead school ensembles, perform in community theater, release songs online, or gain entrance to competitive music programs. Most importantly, they’ve discovered the joy of expressing themselves through music—something I hope to foster in every voice I teach.

Singing is an evolving discipline that integrates physical skill, emotional insight, and cultural awareness to unlock the full potential of the voice. My teaching philosophy emphasizes Integration, Exploration, Respect, and Development.
Integration focuses on the holistic coordination of breath, posture, and vocal placement to facilitate efficient and healthy vocal production. I guide students in cultivating body awareness and breath support that serve as the foundation for flexible and expressive singing. Exploration is encouraged through creative exercises such as improvisation, character work, and phrasing experimentation, helping students uncover their unique artistic voice and deepen their musical connection.
Respect for diversity informs my repertoire choices; I incorporate a wide range of musical genres and cultural traditions to broaden students’ perspectives and promote inclusivity. Development is fostered through personalized lesson plans, goal-setting, and reflective feedback that encourage consistent growth and self-awareness. I aim to create an inspiring and supportive environment where technical skill, creativity, and cultural understanding converge, empowering singers to perform with confidence, authenticity, and joy.
