About Sherri
I have tutored for approximately ten years which includes some online tutoring. Tutoring in Elementary Math, Phonics, and Reading took place in students' homes and online via tutoring sites. I have worked in public schools as a Substitute teacher, teacher's assistant and tutor for both of the counties near my home. As a Reading Interventionist, I worked with five small groups to teach Phonics and Reading and Comprehension. Currently, I am a Senior majoring in Elementary Education and I have completed about 90% of my degree. Upon the completion of my coursework, I will apply for a temporary degree that will allow me to teach for five years.

I believe that all students are capable of thriving inside and outside of the classroom. I approach tutoring with a one on one method. Usually, I request that I tutor students twice per week. The first lesoon introduces the lesson and its content to the student. I provide worksheets and other materials to reinforce learning. Those materials are for the student to keep so that he or she can practice their skills and improve their grades. The second lesson will be a review and possibly some new material added to the lesson. I will discuss concerns with parents and guardians. My goal is to ensure that I have provided an excellent learning experience. As a tutor, I understand that I have to have a lot of patience and understanding. Sometimes, kids don't want to cooperate. I understand those situations too. If a student has an IEP (Individual Education Plan), I try to gear my lessons to meet benchmarks and other requirements of the IEP.
