About Shanika
Hello! My name is Shanika, and I am a passionate, dedicated, and caring educator with 10 years of experience in education. My journey began as a paraprofessional working with students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities (MID) and other special needs. That experience inspired my passion for teaching and helping children of all abilities reach their full potential.
Over the years, I have gained valuable experience working in both general education and special education classrooms. I believe every child is unique and deserves patience, encouragement, and individualized support to succeed. I am also a lifelong learner, currently furthering my education by pursuing my Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.) to continue growing professionally and strengthening my teaching skills.
Outside of the classroom, I am a proud mother and grandmother. Being a mom and grandmother has taught me the importance of patience, compassion, understanding, and building meaningful relationships with children.
Teaching is more than just a career for me; it is my passion and purpose. I enjoy making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful through hands-on activities, creativity, and positive reinforcement. My greatest joy is watching students gain confidence, overcome challenges, and celebrate their accomplishments.
My goal is to make every child feel valued, supported, capable, and excited about learning. I believe that with the right guidance, encouragement, and opportunities, every child can achieve success!

Hello! My name is Shanika, and I am a dedicated, patient, and passionate educator who believes every student can succeed with the right support and encouragement. I specialize in helping elementary students, particularly those in Kindergarten through 5th grade, build confidence and strengthen their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
My Teaching Method and Techniques: I use individualized, hands-on instruction, visual aids, manipulatives, interactive activities, and positive reinforcement to meet each student's unique learning needs. I adapt my teaching strategies to different learning styles and provide additional support for students with diverse learning needs.
A Typical Lesson: Each session begins with a brief review of previously learned skills, followed by an engaging introduction to the new concept. I provide guided instruction, hands-on practice, independent activities, and a quick assessment to monitor understanding and celebrate progress.
What Sets Me Apart: My experience in general and special education classrooms allows me to create an inclusive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment. I focus on building relationships, developing confidence, and making learning enjoyable while maintaining high expectations.
Who My Lessons Are For: I work with elementary students in Pre-K through 5th grade, including students who need academic intervention, homework assistance, enrichment, individualized instruction, or additional support with foundational skills.
My goal is to help every child feel confident, capable, and excited about learning!
