About Deborah
I am a licensed teacher and a mother working from home. I have varied experience teaching in public, private, and international schools, tutoring in-person and online, one-on-one and in groups of various sizes. My specialty is assessing students’ reading and writing, in order to target specific areas for improvement. As students are able to develop necessary skills, they grow in confidence, which promotes continued advancement.

I plan my teaching based upon an assessment of a student’s needs, learning preferences, and desired outcomes. I view teaching as a student (or group of students) and an instructor working together to achieve a learning goal. The teacher is a facilitator and guide. A plan is required, but the teacher must also constantly evaluate the needs of the student(s) and make adjustments accordingly.
