• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I have been tutoring since high school, starting with early morning SAT sessions for some of my classmates. Since then, I've taught a variety of subjects, including K-12 math and NREMT prep.
  I got my EMT certification my freshman year of college, hoping to gain clinical experience as a student on a pre-medical track. Since then, I have worked in a variety of EMT jobs, served as an EMT course teaching assistant, and began tutoring EMT students.

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I love teaching EMT skills and topics! My favorite lessons things to teach are call strucutre and respiratory distress vs failure. Both of these topics are super applicable not only to the exam but also to EMT field work.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I've been lucky enough to have a multitude of wonderful teachers throughout my life, but my EMT instructor is one who truly stands out among them. She cared deeply for each and every student and pushed us to excel.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  It is essential to adapt to the student's learning style. Every student learns differently, so it doesn't work to approach every student similarly.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  When I was in EMT school, it felt really overwhelming to get through all the required content and manage my college courses and extracurriculars. When I started using flashcards for every exam, it made things so much easier. I create a personalized flashcard deck for all my students because of this experience!

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  EMS is a constantly changing field, with best practices and exam standards always shifting. Tutoring ensures I always research these changes and convey the most up-to-date information to my students.

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My passion is definitely working with patients. I want to be a physician in the future and am currently applying to medical school!

• 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

  I am committed to my students! I work to create study resources for them outside of sessions, setting them up for success in every way possible.
