My teaching methods combine a variety of strategies and philosophies. I believe that in so many cases we tend to "throw the baby out with the bath water" when it comes to new educational pedagogy. I have found that there needs to be a good balance of "old school" methods and newer "high order thinking". We need to learn to walk before we can run and math is no different. A sound understanding of the basics will lead to automaticity in math facts and as a result will allow students to navigate more difficult questions with greater ease.

Perfect! Gillian knows how to teach. My daughter has had two math teachers that just seem to confuse rather than teach. Gillian is able to simplify things so she learns. Gillian also makes herself available for follow questions which is a huge benefit having to learn in an online platform. We will continue to use Gillians services for the remainder of my daughters time in high school.

Gill understands what her students need. She is able to identify where my son needs extra support while ensuring that he feels safe and secure in the lesson. My son tends to be a nervous learner that needs reassurance and boosts to his confidence. Gill regularly reminds him that mistakes are needed to grow and learn. As she continues to push him outside his comfort zone we are seeing gains in his learning and confidence.
Gillian is understanding and patient when tutoring. She will work through the math content until you are comfortable on your own. Modeling solutions in different ways also makes her a great choice as a tutor!
Gillian is a passionate person with the patience to match when is comes to teaching. Her enthusiasm definitely helped my children reach their goals. She consistently encourages her students to be more. I would highly recommend her and use her again if the need arised.
Gillian has helped two of my children with individual tutoring. She is patient and will always make sure they understand why and how to solve the questions. Gillian understands their individual learning styles and adapts to make sure they understand the material and feel successful and confident.
