About Alfredo
Born in Venezuela, I started my training at the age of 4 with music theory and keyboard lessons, an instrument that I continued playing until I was 9 when I discovered the sounds of Punk Rock from bands like Bad Religion, The Offspring and Dead Kennedys; It is at this moment that I decided to dedicate myself to the guitar, an instrument that I practice regularly until today. In addition to my interest in Punk Rock, I always had a great appreciation for electronic music thanks to the taste of my parents, who used to listen to the hits of the 80's that, as we know, were crucial years in the advances of electronic instruments and their use in the Pop music production and dominant Dance genres, such as House and Techno. While studying Electronic Engineering at Simón Bolívar University, in 2010 I decided to conduct a University Diploma in Electronic Music Production simultaneously at the Metropolitan University, learning details of the whole history of electronic music since its inception and starting to develop skills in music production and Djing.
However, unfortunately Venezuela is a country where it is difficult to devote to music. That is why the following years I focused on graduating as a Civil Engineer and working in construction, and it is not until 2018, now living in Barcelona, Spain, that I decided to pursue my true passion: music. 2019 was a year of great changes, so in January I started the full DJ course at The Bass Valley Academy, with a duration of 6 months and 4 hours of practice a week, and being a student of Jow Moor, one of the most promising young talents in Barcelona, I can say that I developed a high level for the art of playing, not only with CDJs but also with vinyl. Thanks to this, I am now starting a career as a DJ and music producer whose name is my last name: LUNAR. As LUNAR, for my DJ sets I have developed a style that strolls through genres such as Techno, Minimal, House and even Disco, always looking for a constant movement and variety of rhythms to give a sense of evolution, and it is that feeling that I expect broadcast in my musical productions. Currently I present myself regularly at City Hall, one of the Techno cathedrals in Barcelona, as well as being a resident DJ at the Floripa and La Trabanqueta bars.
Together with French VJ and Cinematographer Mathilde Joly, we are the Directors of the Techno audiovisual collective called Eclipse Lunar, organising monthly events in the main Techno Underground clubs in Barcelona. This is why our students will be invited to participate in our events, since our goal is that they can be representatives of our concept as artists that we can transmit to them.

Basically I will follow the methodology I received in The Bass Valley, but adapted to my style and my previous experience in other areas of music, since I consider that the best DJs are also those who are also musicians (and vice versa). This is why, although the classes are focused on developing Djing and mixing skills, these will be essential to develop an ear capable of detecting even the smallest details during the music production process. For the DJ module we will see topics such as: - Assembling a device from scratch - Mixing table and its different functions (volume, equalization, effects, etc.) - Mixing using vinyl - Using Rekordbox - Mixing using MIDI controller with Traktor or Djay Pro 2 - Session recording and publication - How to make a Presskit - Harmonic mix - Management of social networks and ad systems - Integration of external effects in a mix - Industry agents: Promoter, manager, booker - Applied rhythm boxes a Dj sets - Development of a technical rider - Back to back (B2B) - Organization of an own event Regarding the module Introduction to the Production of Electronic Music: - Mastery of the work environment in Ableton Live - Application of tools and functions demanded in a musical project - Integration and development of rhythmic and harmonic parts - Knowledge of the basic fundamentals of MIDI language - Device integration MIDI tivos in a musical production - Configuration and control through external devices - Develop a computer-assisted musical project - Musical structure and solfeo - Rhythmic and metric - Rhythmic instrumentation - Polyrhythmia - Rhythm boxes applied to production - Scales and chords - Arpeggios - Progressions - Cadences - Introduction to Synthesis - Introduction to Sampling - Audio Processors (EQ, compressors, limiters, reverbs, delays, etc.) - Introduction to Mixing - Introduction to Mastering
