About Bruce
I was a mature student who went to University at 24 years old. I failed my A Levels at college and had no direction. A chance meeting with my English tutor several years later gave me inspiration to retake my A Levels at evening classes (gaining an ‘A’ grade in Literature) and ultimately gaining a place at the University of Essex studying English & European Literature. This proved to me that study was so much easier when you actually had a goal to aim for and a knowledgeable and inspirational tutor.
My degree covered many subjects as well as literature, including The Enlightenment, Art History and Philosphy.
My Literature degree covered everything from classical literature onwards and I specialised in Shakespeare, Ancient Iceland literature and Turn of the Century Literature (1900). I also have a personal interest in modern American literature 1960’s - 2000.

I have a knowledge of many literature subjects ranging from early classical literature to modern literature and everything in between. I’m a great believer in putting literature into a historical context for greater understanding. I can assist with basic study requirements through to essay writing and further reading.
