About Sheryl
Hi! My name is Sheryl Odum, and I know what it’s like to learn a new language—because I’ve been there myself. As someone who once worked hard to master English, I understand the challenges and frustrations students face. That experience shaped my passion for teaching and helps me connect with learners on a real level. I’m fluent in both English and Spanish, which allows me to support students in a way that feels clear and comfortable, especially for native Spanish speakers. Whether you're just starting out or looking to polish your writing, I’m here to guide you with patience and encouragement. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students of all ages—from young children learning basic grammar to adults preparing essays, business emails, or creative writing projects. Every lesson is tailored to fit your needs, your pace, and your goals. My approach is supportive, structured, and practical. I don’t just teach rules—I help you understand how to use the language in real life with confidence and purpose. If you’re ready to improve your English or your writing, I’m here to help you grow—because I’ve walked that path myself.

I focus on student-centered learning, which means I adapt every lesson to match the student’s goals, strengths, and challenges. Whether it’s mastering English as a second language, writing stronger essays, or exploring creative writing, I guide students with patience, structure, and encouragement. Teaching Methods and Techniques Break down complex ideas into simple, clear steps. Use real-life examples, engaging prompts, and visuals to make learning memorable. Teach writing as a process—brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising. Focus on clarity, grammar, and voice, not just technical rules. Offer constructive, personalized feedback to help students grow with confidence. A Typical Lesson Plan Warm-up (5–10 min): A short discussion, grammar drill, or writing prompt. Main Topic (25–30 min): A focused lesson on grammar, structure, writing techniques, or reading comprehension. Practice (20–25 min): Students apply what they’ve learned with my guidance. Review & Feedback (10 min): We go over what was learned, correct mistakes, and set a goal for next time.
