About Marina
I am passionate about teaching and empowering young people to reach their potential.
My teaching style is based on kindness and encouragement whilst still challenging learners. I offer my first class for free and tailor my lessons based on the needs of the child.
I have been tutoring for three years - I began tutoring through a volunteering scheme at University and tutored several primary school aged children from refugee and asylum seeking background. Since then, I have tutored privately from 11+ examinations through to GCSE preparation, worked as a Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school and taught English as a foreign language in Italy (TEFL certified).
I have also coordinated two volunteering programmes - a mentoring scheme for A level and GCSE pupils from refugee backgrounds and worked with the council to run weekly conversational ESOL classes to adults in Bristol. I have experience working with children of varying abilities - those who are said to be 'school refusers', children and young adults with additional support needs and 'high achievers' aiming for scholarships for top schools.
