About Rebecca
I graduated from Virginia Tech with degrees in biology, psychology and education, so I have a vast knowledge of various fields of study. I taught high school science for five years and then I ran my own tutoring business for 13 years. I came across this job opportunity and thought that perhaps it would be a great fit for me. I am currently working toward my PhD in neuropsychology.
For starters, I like to get to know each of my students to a certain extent (or as well as they are comfortable with), as it provides me with a foundation as to his or her learning style. I am a big believer that education is a unique experience for everyone, that each and every student's learning style is going to be somewhat different, and, most importantly, that the sessions are a joint effort with one unified goal. My job as I see it is not to just read and present material, but to familiarize myself with this diversified style and then adapt my techniques in order to meet your individual needs. I think that this type of teamwork approach is what has made me a successful educator for almost 20 years.

My teaching methods vary depending on the individual needs of each student. There are a variety of ways in which every student is capable of thriving academically. For instance, some students are visual learners, while others are auditory, verbal, etc. The goal is to find the method that works best for each and every person. This is where I come in; I am extremely knowledgeable at what I do and I know that offering students options as to various types of learning will give them the opportunity to discover what works best for them.
