About Asmaa
I am an English student with two years of experience tutoring GCSE Maths, where I’ve developed a strong passion for helping students build confidence and understanding in a subject that many find challenging. My background in English has strengthened my communication skills, allowing me to explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt my teaching style to suit each learner’s needs. Over the past two years, I’ve worked with students of varying abilities, supporting them in improving their problem-solving skills, exam technique, and overall confidence in maths. I want to teach GCSE Maths because I find it deeply rewarding to see students progress from feeling unsure to achieving results they can be proud of. I believe maths is not just about numbers but about logical thinking and perseverance—skills that empower students beyond the classroom. My goal as a tutor is to make maths accessible and engaging, breaking down difficult topics into manageable steps and showing students that, with the right approach and support, anyone can succeed in the subject.

When planning lessons, I begin by identifying each student's goals, current level and learning style. I then structure my lessons around clear, achievable objectives, combining explanation, guided practice and independent work. I prepare by selecting materials that are both challenging and engaging, such as exercises and examples so that each lesson builds on the last and reinforces key skills. During delivery, I aim to create a supportive and interactive environment where students feel confident asking questions. I make sure to adapt my pace and methods to suit individual needs, using techniques like questioning and active recall to deepen understanding. To help students reach their goals, I set short and long-term targets and review them regularly. I measure progress through informal checks such as discussion, quizzes, written work as well as through reflective feedback from students themselves. I believe that effective print happens when students feel motivated, respected and involved. Encouraging curiosity, celebrating progress and helping students see the relevance of what they learn are central to my approach. My goal is to help them develop independence and confidence so that they can continue learning confidently beyond our lessons.
