About Darcy
I am a student of Exeter University and a well-prepared, professional online English tutor who focuses on working with KS4, A-level and GCSE students, preparing them for their English exams.
Whether you are looking for weekly classes, in-depth revision sessions over a couple of days, course-specific support i.e timed practise essays, quote and text analysis and essay writing technique, I am an experienced tutor who works closely with my clients to achieve their goals.
For those of you studying English at GCSE and A-Level, I did take the Classical Civilisations A-Level alongside English which aided in providing a lot of context surrounding the works we studied (mainly Chaucer). And I prepare 'context packets' to aid in revision and essay prep.
My timings are very flexible with after school hours as I am primarily an online tutor and I am able to travel around Exeter if you would like me to work in person as well.

Anywhere from 45 minute to 2 hour sessions to aid in comprehension, critical thinking, critical essay writing and choosing and understanding quotes to benefit you in an exam setting. I do my best work with exam prep and revision or essay writing as opposed to actually reading through copious amounts of material. I tend to set goals or targets for reading chapters in the students own time so that the lessons can be used to target faults and increase grades more effectively.
I will create lesson plans that can be viewed in advance that will be tailored to my clients exam board. When we make progress I will create two options within each lesson to either 'review' - which will use a lower level task to allow my client to revise and refine technique - or 'boost' - which is designed to push the student to a higher level of work and (with enough work) achieve better grades long term.
