About Tricia
Hi, I'm Tricia! I currently attend long beach city college and plan on transferring to CULSB in spring 2022 to get my bachelor's in sociology. Growing up, I have tutored and helped my siblings a lot with their homework and I guess that's where my love for helping people has come from. I started reading when I was in middle school mainly because of the lack of confidence I had when talking to others around me so I looked for a distraction or something to keep me busy most of the time. In the summer of 7th grade, my older sister introduced me to the world of reading and vocabulary. I have a year of tutoring experience. Throughout my senior year in high school, I myself and others around me started to notice how good and passionate I was about reading and vocabulary and helped me put my knowledge on these subjects to good use. From there on out, most of my free time was spent tutoring my classmates who wanted to learn how to read or improve their vocabulary and helping my siblings along with the people around me learn new things.

The way I go about teaching reading and vocab is I give the student a list of books I’ve picked out for them based on their interests, then for each lesson, I assign them a chapter to read from the book and I ask them to make a list of words from the book that they have found but have no knowledge on. By the end of our lessons, I give a small quiz on the words and see how you do. So, feel free to reach out to me anytime you because I'm here to help!
