About Grace
Testament to my passion for English I was a finalist in the University of Canberra’s Vice Chancellors International Poetry Prize 2019, and have been published in the Australian Poetry Journal, TEXT journal, Words in Winter Trentham among others.
I have worked with students on a variety of texts (QCE/ ATAR , IB Prescribed / teacher selected) such as: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, "Once", Hatchet, Holes, The Crucible, Majority of Shakespeare’s plays, Edgar Allen Pie’s stories and poems, The Great Gatsby, Frankenstein, Never Let Me Go, Mrs. Dalloway, Jasper Jones, Heart of Darkness, To Kill a Mockingbird , Animal Farm and 1984, Cloudstreet, Picture of Dorian Gray, Franz Kafka's short stories, Bruce Dawe and Carol Ann Duffy's collective poems,....Presently, I have ~5 years tutoring experience.
In line with my qualifications and expertise, my rates are as follows:
* In-person (at local libraries etc.): $45 for 1hr / $85 for 2hour (base rate) + a $5-10 travel surcharge (bus fares and time taken)
* In person (at my home): $35 per hour / $65 for 2 hours: no surcharge.
* On-line: $30 per hour / $55 for 2 hours: no surcharge.

Hello everyone! My name is Grace ~ I’m a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) graduate currently completing a Masters of Secondary Education (Senior English, Junior Science and Psychology).
My approach to English tutoring is very ACTIVE i.e. mind-mapping of themes/ characters/ ideas / concepts, breaking down and "translating" what your assignment is actually asking, short/ extended writing exercises with feedback, exam/ assignment preparation. I DO proofread assessments, however I will NOT write them.
I have tutored/ taught various assessment genres i.e.
~ Analytical Essays i.e. comparative analysis of novels and/ or poems
~ Persuasive speeches
~ Dramatic monologues (i.e. "select a character from Romeo and Juliet, and create a "hidden" soliloquy for that character")
~ Creative Writing/ "Textual Transformation".....
~ Research Papers
*** English Literature (Yr 12 QCE) students : I have experience in writing each type of assessment you will be completing (I was once an EngX student myself). I have also tutored students completing these assessments ***
