About Mark
My name is Mark and I am down to earth and easy to get on with. I have a passion for teaching and working with young people and enjoy helping students to understand Maths at any level that I can. I was a full-time teacher at an Ofsted Outstanding School and have taught students from the ages of 11-16 (Years 7 to 11). I adapt my teaching in order to complement the students' learning style. It is very important that the students have an input as to how they are taught so I welcome feedback and keep an open mind whilst teaching. Lessons will be structured in order to promote good technique which will help with the retention and application of knowledge. Once a key concept has been identified and understood within a topic, I will incorporate activities that practise fluency, problem solving and reasoning. We will also spend time on answering exam-style questions so that students can gain confidence in their abilities. Maths is a subject that requires a large amount of foundation knowledge that needs to be embedded so that it can be recalled easily in order to apply it to different scenarios. This is why I will focus on fundamentals as well as advanced questions in each session, tailored to the level of the student.
