About Maria

Having moved to the United Kingdom last year I am settled and ready to meet new students who are interested in the French, Spanish and Greek languages. I am a highly motivated individual and together with my passion for languages, the tutoring opportunities I was fortunate to have during my studies in Cape Town, South Africa have given me a solid foundation on which to build upon. I have worked in an independent School in Harare, Zimbabwe where I taught Greek and French. In my lessons I used interactive boards as well as sound and images to allow for maximum student involvement. Placing the student at the centre of the classroom experience allows them to use their strengths to advance as well as identify their weak points which with assistance are strengthened. University : - French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs - International Relations [Currently Studying] - University of Cape Town, South Africa - Bachelor of Arts Honours in Teaching French as a Foreign Language [First Class Pass] - University of Cape Town, South Africa - Bachelor of Arts [Distinction] School : Hellenic Academy, Harare, Zimbabwe A Levels - French [B] - Biology [C] - Maths [D] Hellenic Academy, Harare, Zimbabwe AS Levels - French [A] - Biology [B] - English [B] - Maths [C] - Chemistry [E] Hellenic Academy, Harare, Zimbabwe GCSEs - English Language [A*] - English Literature [A] - Greek (Modern) [A*] - French [A] - Biology [A] - History [A] - Geography [A] - ICT [A] - Business Studies [A] - Maths [B] - Chemistry [C] Prizes and Scholarships : 2018 Postgraduate Office Scholarship French Department Scholarship Dean's Merit List 2017 Humanities Faculty Scholarship Dean's Merit List 2016 Humanities Faculty Scholarship Dean's Merit List Golden Key Honour Society Other Qualifications : St John Ambulance Paediatric First Aid Certificate in Teaching Greek as a second/ foreign language from the Center for the Greek Language, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Maria has a fantastic understanding of Spanish and was therefore able to help me understand the language. She was very thorough in all the sections we covered using multiple examples and assigning homework that would allow me to test what I had learnt on my own. Maria was also able to find different ways to explain problems I was having when I couldn’t comprehend it a certain way and she managed to make all our lessons fun as well as informative. I can not recommend her enough!
