About Amal
I am an English/ EFL teacher and a PhD student in Literature and Comparative Studies at Manchester Met. I am on a scholarship programme fully funded by the Algerian government. I was also a Student Ambassador, at my university for which I received the Positive Change for Students Award, and about which the university published an article. My BA is in Education, and my MA is in Language and Literature, and I have a CELTA certificate. I taught English back home at the level of high school to both scientific and literary streams, and did TA in the UK with Teaching Personnel. I have also participated in conferences, and recently organised the PGR Annual Conference at Manchester Met.

My methodology differs, depending on the level of students and the chosen subjects. For EFL students, particularly those whose mother tongue is Arabic, I tend to focus on pronunciation as they tend to mispronounce some phonemes like /P/. These students are usually good at Grammar, since they study it extensively at schools, as opposed to native speakers who basically need support with their writing and Syntax. Sessions are usually for 90 min as I believe that an hour is just not enough for sufficient practice, especially for those who are not exposed to the language outside classroom. Furthermore, my experience as a student who has studied EFL and has sat for the IELTS, I can relate to students on both academic and personal levels, and thus come up with solutions to help individual cases according to need.
