About Andrew
I am completing a Graduate Diploma in Education (secondary), with a Science major and Mathematics minor. I have previously taught undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects in biology, earth science, chemistry, some physics and also mathematics. Although my primary focus has been education, I have also consulted or contracted to industry in environmental management and took the opportunity to spend some time in the military as a commissioned officer.

I believe in the classroom that student’s need to feel valued. To achieve this in my teaching practice I need to approach learning holistically. In other words, student’s need to be encouraged to develop a sense of personal agency, of belonging, contributing and taking control of their own learning.
I believe that this approach has a positive impact on behaviour, which effects learning. My philosophy reflects my experience during five years of teaching undergraduate students, my current volunteer role coaching youth in Surf lifesaving in surf sports and also leadership training in the military and teaching martial arts to all ages previously.
