About Cathleen
My earlier background is in Business, primarily the Insurance industry. After early retirement, I taught English as a Second Language in Mexico and Peru for 12 years. Teaching is my passion and my joy. I have taught private students and classes of all sizes and all ages. I also have 100 + hours of experience teaching TOEFL and IELTS.

My teaching style is student-centered. My interpretation of the methodology is following the steps of who is the student, how much does the student know already, and what are the student's language goals. Also, what kind of learner is the student? Then I tailor my lessons around listening, with or without music, playing games, reading comprehension, and any other experiential device suitable. Grammar and vocabulary are learned in a holistic manner, as part of the whole language.
