About Yathu

I’m a data analyst with a BSc in Mathematics and currently completing a Master’s in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. My work in data and business intelligence gives me strong technical foundations and real business insight, allowing me to explain Excel and analytics concepts clearly, simply, and confidently.

I first began teaching Excel through workplace workshops designed to help colleagues improve productivity. Seeing how quickly Excel transformed their day‑to‑day tasks — and hearing how much my sessions boosted their confidence — inspired me to start tutoring professionally.

Today, I teach Excel with the same clarity, structure, and real‑world focus I use in my analyst role. My goal is to help learners build practical skills, confidence, and independence, whether for work, studies, or career development.

If you want Excel skills that genuinely make a difference in your everyday tasks, job performance, or academic work, you’re in the right place.

  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

From my collection the first time I used a computer was in my computer lab at primary school. We didn't have much on it, but I remember playing games with pixelated graphics and weirdly trying to make birthday invitations for my friend in a MS Paint equivalent tool.
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

Enabling processing of Big Data in a multitude of industries has led to increased development pace, whether it be mainstream social media or the more niche Large Hadron Collider. Advancements in GPUs down to the hardware level and accelerating AI/ML applications are likely to keep pumping air in the Big Data bubble.
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

My interest in data analysis stems from the immense potential they hold in transforming raw data into actionable insights. The ability to transform raw data into actionable insights is incredibly powerful, enabling data-driven decisions that lead to better outcomes and greater efficiency. Data analysis is like solving a puzzle, where each piece of data contributes to a bigger picture, helping organizations make informed decisions.
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

I tend to seek inspiration from wherever I can receive it. I am intrigued by the problem-solving skills those visionaries have while also keeping their key stakeholders updated/satisfied. The higher I climb the seniority ladder I realise it is not just about getting your work done to the best standards possible, it is also about communicating the importance of that work to all parties involved. I tend to seek aspiration from people who have followed similar paths to what I am interested in, and in whose footsteps, I can see myself walking one day. It is important to set realistic goals.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

It is fascinating to look back at my early experiences with a computer. At the time, it was as big as a small TV (and TVs were big back then, with no flat screens). I used it for playing games and painting. It was fun, and I never thought or dreamed it would change the world.
When I first learned basic coding, I remember feeling frustrated because it seemed so abstract and disconnected from anything practical. However, one day, our teacher gave us a project to create a simple game. That project changed everything for me. It was the first time I saw how coding could bring ideas to life, and it sparked a passion for technology that has stayed with me ever since.
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Well, for starters, I'll agree with them. Then I would help them devise realistic goals on what they would like to achieve. It always helps using stories to understand tasks. If someone is uncomfortable using Excel, I would say just get started exploring a few ideas, I would show them a few simple functions and we can build up on it. Practice is key when it comes to mastering Excel or any other technology. The more you use it, the more comfortable and efficient you become.
  • 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I love traveling and exploring places, it is such a great way to experience different cultures and cuisines. Also, I do enjoy helping people learn new things and solve problems. Whether it is diving into a complex Excel formula or finding the best travel tips, I am happy to give tips. If you need any recommendations for your next trip or tips on finding great food spots, feel free to ask!
  • 8) What makes you a superstar in IT?

Over the years I have ensured to upskill myself in relevant technologies, different programming languages, etc. This has enabled me to stay relevant in the industry and has also allowed me to problem solve in the best ways possible. All this combination with my ability to stay positive and communicate my problems while maintaining a positive attitude, solutions, and general work to members of any level has been incredibly helpful for building strong professional relationships and fostering a collaborative work environment.
