I have known Tamara since 1987 when we began our teaching careers at a bilingual elementary school in Boulder, Colorado. I have known Tamara for over nine years now, and I have experienced her teaching skills in several different settings. She is a patient and caring teacher, who looks for ways to help the people she is teaching to be successful.
Three years ago, my roommate and I were planning a trip to Mexico. When Tamara saw our need to learn some Spanish for the trip, she began some tutoring of us. She labeled numerous items and furniture in the house with the work in Spanish ad the phonetic pronunciation win English. Tamara encouraged both of us to refer to the objects in Spanish, and she helped us along the way in correct pronunciation.
She is always eager to learn new things for herself. She looks up and names the plants, birds and other animals that she sees. In addition to researching the names of birds, she also takes great pride in learning each bird's individual call.
I believe that my numerous experiences with Tamara paints a picture of her teaching skills, and what a knowledgeable and interesting friend she is to learn with.
