About Mandana
I've worked in the industry for over 30 years. In my early career I toured with The English Shakespeare Company and Compass Theatre and had stints at The National Theatre which included Understudying and playing a fairy in Robert Lepage's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. During this time my love of Shakespeare grew and continues to do so today. Later I found work in TV starting with 3 and a half years in the soap opera London Bridge and then Series 1 to 3 of the ground breaking, award winning Drama "Bad Girls". Every job, every experience is an opportunity to learn if we remain curious and open. In the last 5 years I've been teaching Acting Improvisation at The International School of Screenacting in London. I'm privileged to teach there and passionate about championing students of all ages and backgrounds.

I trained at and achieved a Diploma in Acting at the Drama Centre London. The principles of the school were based in the work of Stanislavski, Method Acting and Movement Psychology (rooted in the work of the dance teacher Rudolf Laban). This background has informed how I approach my own acting and the teaching of others. My methodology involves understanding that the lines spoken by a character are meaningless unless they are psychologically charged and with specific purpose. Speech should be delivered in order to effect a change upon the other character(s) in the scene. Approaching the work in this way makes the “space between the actors” and how the actors affect each other appear as though the story is being created in the here and now of the performance. For the past 5 years I've been teaching Improvisational Acting at The International School of Screen Acting in London with students of all ages from all over the globe. I take pride and pleasure in watching my students develop into skilful, confident, industry level actors. Since Drama School entry has become increasingly dependent on auditioning via self-tapes, teaching and learning online can be highly effective. The same shift has also occurred within the Film and TV industry where the audition process is undertaken through self-tape submission and virtual meetings. Alternatively, for those who prefer to work face to face I'm happy to deliver lessons in person. I can help you work on your Audition pieces for Drama School entry. If you are in training or a professional actor I can work on any script you might need fresh input with. I work with the individual before me whatever their age or level of experience.
