To say that a student is average when it comes to intelligent quotient from my wealth of experience is to an extent dependent on the teacher who handled that student. Exposures and methodology of exposures play certain roles in that student's ability.
I strongly believe in working with what the student prioritizes to bring out what is in that student. That's one way to enable such student develop passion in what you are doing.
Summarily, every student can do it if only they will do it and one way to make them do it is by making it presentable to them which I termed "passion building" but in all these, I don't jeopardize the place of discipline.
