About Coy
I began my academic career by obtaining two A.A. degrees in Physical Sciences and Humanities before going on to graduate magna cum laude from The City University of New York with a degree in Communication and Culture. Unsure of what my true calling was, I chose to study for my TESOL certification and my teaching certificate. In the process of working towards both certs, I realized I truly enjoyed the classroom environment. I loved seeing the light "click" for my students, hearing about their days, tailoring each lesson to provide a challenging yet fun experience that would ensure their drive for learning would not falter or fade.
As I continued down the path of teaching, I began designing my own lesson plans which led to me becoming a consultant, private tutor, and children's book author. While I do miss the beautiful chaos of a classroom, I am loving the ability to really connect one-on-one with my students - to guide them along their own learning path, develop their interests, and hone their skills across the subject of literature, language learning, reading, creative writing, and critical thinking.

Hi! My name is Coy and I am super excited to see you in the classroom.
I have taught for the past five years in a virtual classroom where I have tutored students of all levels and abilities, assisting them in reading fluency, writing literacy, and comprehension. I have not only prepared lesson plans based on pop culture, destination, music, and the arts.
I have also provided comprehensive feedback reports, detailed agendas and homework. I truly want the best for each and every student and believe that all students are more than capable of reaching every milestone they desire.
