About Alina
Hello! My name is Alina. I was born and raised in Brazil, but live with my family on Vancouver Island, Canada. I am an experienced and dedicated ESL tutor who enjoys helping students build confidence in their English skills. I have worked closely with learners of different ages and backgrounds in both one-on-one and group settings, supporting them in developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities in a clear and patient way. I am known for being calm, reliable, and attentive, and I take pride in creating a respectful and encouraging learning environment. I understand that learning a new language can feel intimidating, so I focus on making lessons feel supportive, structured, and approachable. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s level, goals, and learning pace. As a tutor, I value professionalism and preparation. I come to lessons organized and ready, explain concepts clearly, and make sure students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I use a structured but flexible approach. Lessons follow clear objectives, while remaining adaptable to the student’s pace and needs. I combine simple grammar explanations, vocabulary building, and guided practice with real-life examples. For speaking practice, I encourage natural conversation and offer gentle corrections that help students improve without disrupting confidence.
Typical lesson plan
A typical lesson begins with a short review or warm-up to reinforce previous learning. New material is then introduced in a clear and manageable way, followed by guided practice through conversation, reading, writing, videos, games, or listening activities. Lessons conclude with a recap and, when appropriate, suggestions for practice between sessions.
