About Willa
I am a guitar tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar) and over eleven years of playing experience. My training combines academic study with real-world performance and teaching. I work comfortably across styles such as rock, classical, folk, and blues.
I enjoy helping students understand both the theory behind music and the feel of playing it. My lessons focus on strong technique, musical expression, and confidence. I teach young learners with patience and clarity. I also enjoy working with adult students who are starting later or returning to the guitar.
Each lesson is adapted to the learner’s pace and goals. I believe progress comes from steady practice and encouragement. Music should feel challenging but never overwhelming.
My aim is to help students build skill, confidence, and a lasting connection with the guitar.

My guitar teaching approach is practical, musical, and student-focused. I begin by understanding how each learner wants to use the guitar in real life. Lessons cover strong fundamentals such as posture, tone control, rhythm accuracy, and clean technique. I teach chord progressions, strumming patterns, and fingerstyle in a clear and simple way.
Improvisation is introduced early through scales, phrasing, and real-time creativity. I help students understand modes and how to apply them naturally over different chords. Jam-based learning is a key part of my method. This builds timing, confidence, and musical instinct.
For learners who enjoy relaxed playing, I focus on song flow, accompaniment, and musical feel. For those who prefer structured study, I teach notation, disciplined practice routines, and detailed technique. Classical foundations, harmony, and musical expression are treated with care and depth.
Every lesson balances structure with freedom. Progress is steady and enjoyable. My goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and independent guitar players.
