About Geraldine
French is not only a language, it's an "art de vivre" and I would love to share my love for it with anyone desiring or having to study it. I myself had to learn foreign languages at school. Iߣve had to find my way in a country speaking a language other than my mother tongue. In short, I know what it takes to learn a foreign language. And I must say, it doesnߣt have to be boring, it doesnߣt have to be a pain. It can be fun, interesting and enjoyable. It will need work, but it will be rewarding. I am keen to adapt the tutoring not only to the age, needs and objectives of the learner, but also to his/her sphere of interest and type of memory (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic). When you contact me, my first questions will be: what do you want to achieve and what are the learnerߣs interests or passions? From there, we will be able to work together to reach the set goals. On my CV, you will see that I have studied law and journalism and that I have worked as a French-speaking journalist for a number of years. You can find my articles in different types of Belgian newspapers and magazines including in L'Echo (the equivalent of the FT in Belgium). You will also see that Iߣve done teacher training in Belgium; have been a university teacher assistant, advising students on the research, writing and structuring of their end of study essays; and that I have taught French to non-native French speakers, which has given me useful mnemonic tools to help a non-native French speaker remember the sometimes weird French rules. Writing, listening and understanding is great but what about speaking and managing a conversation? I have also taken French pronunciation classes which have given me tools to explain how to pronounce a specific sound or word. And with the silent ÉcsÉd and ÉceÉds, with our ÉcgÉd ÉcanÉd and ÉcenÉd sound, this learning is proving quite useful. With these different skills and my strong desire to educate, I will hopefully be able to help you or your children reach the results you or they want to achieve, and more than that, to nurture an interest or a passion for French. Perfect! Revisiting the French language
Geraldine is an innovative, intuitive and patient teacher.
I informed her of my ADHD and she quickly and accurately established my level of aptitude in the subject and then designed a bespoke methodology to best suit me.
Using techniques involving role play, repitition of the essentials and various props Geraldine drives home long forgotten structures and vocabulary.
She is a patient professional and reassuring tutor.

I have had the pleasure of many hours of conversation with Geraldine and have found her to be an attentive and highly creative teacher. She really understands how to tailor her tutoring to your needs. I can say have never had a boring session with her and she has always been very patient. She has a great sense of humour so the time really flies and I don't feel like I'm doing a chore of studying - instead I am having a good conversation with a tutor that's invested in me as a student and as a person. Geraldine helped me to prepare for the French interview I was about to have. The classes that we had was like a mock interview that's why it helped me a lot to prepare. We also conducted a long spreadsheet of Business words in French, related to my industry and I really liked it! Before taking French lessons with Geraldine I had no clue on how to prepare. But with Geraldine's recruitment experience together with journalistic gave great results for the situation I had.
