About Sofia
Hi! I’m Sofia, a physics graduate from ITMO University, where I studied Theoretical and Applied Physics and graduated with honors.
I’ve always liked physics not just as a subject, but as a way of thinking. What I enjoy most is taking something that feels confusing at first and breaking it down until it actually makes sense. Many students come to me feeling lost or overwhelmed, and my goal is to make physics feel much more manageable and logical.
I’m patient and attentive, and I adjust my explanations to the person I’m working with. Some students need more intuition and visual thinking, others prefer clear formulas and structured steps — I can adapt to both.
I also understand what it’s like to prepare for exams under pressure. I scored 95/100 on the physics exam myself, so I know how important it is not only to understand the material, but also to feel confident solving problems independently.
Alongside my studies, I was involved in physics research and co-authored publications in scientific journals. This helps me see the bigger picture behind the topics I teach and explain them in a way that stays accurate but still simple.
I speak English at C1 level (TOEFL 106) and can teach in both English and Russian.

My lessons are structured, clear, and focused on real understanding of physics rather than memorizing formulas.
I work with high school and international students (AP Physics, IB Physics, A-Level, GCSE, and Russian exams). Each student has different difficulties, so I start with a short diagnostic to identify weak points: concepts, math, graphs, or problem-solving strategy.
A typical lesson includes:
– a clear explanation of the topic using diagrams and simple reasoning;
– step-by-step problem solving;
– exam-style questions;
– short feedback and homework after the lesson.
I especially help students who feel that physics is confusing or “too abstract”. I break problems into simple steps and teach how to choose the right model and equations.
Lessons are online using an interactive whiteboard. I teach in English and Russian, depending on the student’s preference.
