About Anna
I'm an enthusiastic and experienced teacher and performer. After graduating from Leeds CoIlege of Music with a BA Hons (Jazz) First Class in 2013, I started work as a performer and tutor.
As a tutor I have taught students of all abilities; from total beginners to people taking grades to graduates of music college, as well as running workshops focussing on jazz improvisation and ensemble playing.
As a performer I've performed at innumerable venues across the UK such as Matt and Phreds, Zeferellis, Steven Joseph Theatre. I've toured Europe with bands, and performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival. And I've recorded many albums including my most recent trio “Shapeshifters” released with New Jazz Records and “MOS - Mansion of Snakes” released through Hyde Park Book Club Records.

As a tutor the most important thing for me is fostering a passion for playing, and backing that up with technique and theoretical knowledge. I aim to get my students playing with me as soon as possible, as I feel playing with other people is an integral part of music.
I approach each student individually, starting by finding their long term goals. Some common examples are completing grades, feeling ready to join a band, learning improvisation or music theory, or preparing for music college.
