About Jacqueline
Since 2021, I have worked successfully as a private tutor, supporting children with 11+ and 13+ exam preparation, English Language and Literature GCSEs. I have successfully tutored a wide range of students who gained offers from competitive state selective and independent schools including:
Aldenham, Bancroft’s, Belmont, Channing, City of London School for Boys, Dame Alice Owen’s, Dr Challoner’s, Forest, Francis Holland, Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School, Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls, Merchant Taylors’, Mount House, North London Collegiate School, Queen’s College London, Queenswood, South Hampstead High School, St. Alban’s, St. Paul’s, The Latymer School, University College School, Westminster, Wetherby and Woldingham.
Helping children to become confident, independent learners is the most rewarding part of my role as a tutor. I love the personalised nature of tutoring and getting to know my students so that lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs.
I have taught across the primary age range from ages 3-11 since 2003 and spent ten years in a variety of senior roles, including Curriculum Advisor, Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher. While I am experienced at teaching across all subject areas in EYFS, KS1 and KS2, my passion and specialism is teaching English. I gained my Master's in Education in 2019, graduating with a Distinction. My academic interests include reading and identity. Since leaving full-time teaching, I have worked in Teacher Education, previously at London Metropolitan University and, currently, at Brunel University.

My online lessons are personalised, interactive and engaging, using a variety of tools, tasks, games and strategies to help children make rapid progress in their chosen subjects. As independent practice is crucial to progress, I set homework that both challenges children and gives them the opportunity to consolidate the skills taught during lessons. I also help children to develop strong, independent study habits that will serve them as lifelong, transferable skills.
As a qualified primary teacher, I can teach all subjects at primary level, as well as 11+ reasoning and other entrance exam topics. As English is my specialism, I can teach this to GCSE level.
Lessons are minimum of 1 hour per week for school entrance exams with homework set each lesson.
