Your Expert Online Education Tutor Education leader and doctoral researcher offering bespoke tutoring in Biology (Secondary/IB/KS5). Benefit from my expertise in virtual schooling, instructional design, and a data-informed approach to maximise your engagement and outcomes. I specialise in tailored support for students of all secondary ages. Approach to Tutoring and Classes Techniques and Teaching Methodology: My tutoring method is rooted in instructional design and bespoke support. I use data to quickly identify a student's knowledge gaps and preferred learning patterns, ensuring every lesson is bespoke and highly effective. I focus on active learning, breaking down complex concepts using real-world applications (especially relevant for Biology and ESS), and building critical thinking skills, not just rote memorisation. I support students to know the curriculum content, focus on their areas of development, and also teach them how to navigate exam papers and to hone exam technique. My background has been across a variety of educational settings in the UK, abroad and also in online education leadership, ensuring a structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environment - in person or online. Typical Length of a Lesson: A typical lesson length would be 60 minutes to allow for a focused introduction, dedicated practice/application time, and a final review with goal setting for the next session. This can be adapted based on the student's age and needs. Qualifications and Experience: I hold a BSc (Hons) and MSc in scientific fields, a PGDE in Secondary Biology from the University of Edinburgh, and I'm currently completing a Doctorate in Education. As an IB Examiner (Biology) and previously examining for the SQA, I have firsthand knowledge of high-stakes assessment criteria. I spent over six years in senior leadership roles within online schools, including as a Principal and Head of Education Operations, where I directed curriculum and quality for thousands of online learners. I have an active PVG check from Disclosure Scotland and also a DBS check. Who the Lessons Are For: I provide high-quality, tailored lessons for: Secondary School Students: All ages/stages. National 5, Highers, Advanced Highers, GCSEs, A Levels, IB IB Students: Specifically for Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) - both standards and higher levels.
