About JETHRO KRISTO
Although I have over 20 years teaching experience both here and abroad teaching the British curriculum, International Baccalaureate, The American Curriculum, Cambridge International Education amongst others, I enjoy the benefits of one to one tuition.
Presently, I tutor looked after children some of whom have not been to school for years. Ot I have prepared learners to go back to mainstream school and yet others who need preparations for their examinations.
My teaching experiences have seen me teach in the UAE, Doha Qatar all in the Gulf regions, Africa, Europe and in the USA. I gained valuable experiences and skills to improve teaching and learning in the classroom.
I hold a Bed (HONS), Diploma in Evangelical Studies and a Certificate in Pastoral Theology from Plater College, Oxford, a PGCE in Literacy and Esol, Assessor(TAQA) Award and Internal Quality Award(IQA).
I recently returned to England from Doha, Qatar where I managed, trained and taught English IGCSE first and Second Language to an internationally mixed ability group of students and designed programmes to train local teachers in the school and elsewhere. I had previously taught English, English Literature, Philosophy and Ethics and trained newly qualified teachers in pedagogy and, classroom management. I made work accessible through differentiated tasks for a mixed ability group and for students whose first language is not English.
My 14 years teaching experience has created in me an awareness of the need to develop appropriate social values and standards as a teacher. I am aware of making use of speaking and listening skills in different teaching contexts through group work, debates and discussions in class. I enjoy working with children and young people and have been doing so as a teacher for well over 20 years.
My experiences as a teacher have inculcated in me the ability to maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people as well as with parents and colleagues.
Upholding the dignity of people, entrenching in them social and core educational values as well as inculcating in them an appreciation and importance of education is what I stand for.
Finally, raising standards, creating leaders of the next generation, developing motivated, ambitious and confident life — long learners and setting a positive framework of learning are objectives and goals I would like to contribute and achieve if I am given the chance. I look forward to discussing all of the above soon and at your earliest convenience.
