About Lonnie
Hello! My name is Lonnie, and I have dedicated more than 25 years to teaching, mentoring, and encouraging students from around the world. My passion is helping people gain the confidence and skills they need to communicate effectively in English.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Literature from Ozark Christian College and a Master's Degree in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. In addition to my academic background, I lived in Thailand for eight years, where I taught English to students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Today, I serve as the Campus Director of an international student organization at Texas Christian University, where I work with students representing more than 80 countries.
Students appreciate my patient, encouraging, and personalized teaching style. I understand that learning a new language can feel intimidating, so I create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. Every lesson is customized to meet your individual goals, whether you want to improve your conversation skills, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, academic English, or professional communication.
My goal is not simply to help you learn English but to help you use it confidently in real-life situations. I look forward to supporting you as you achieve your language goals and celebrating your progress every step of the way.

My teaching style is practical, interactive, and tailored to each student's goals. I believe that students learn a language best by using it in real conversations rather than simply memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules. I create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence as they improve.
A typical lesson begins with a brief conversation to practice speaking and review previous material. From there, we focus on the student's individual goals, whether that is improving pronunciation, expanding vocabulary, mastering grammar, preparing for exams, succeeding in university courses, or communicating more effectively at work. Every lesson includes opportunities to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with immediate feedback and practical exercises that students can apply in everyday situations.
What sets me apart is more than 25 years of teaching and mentoring experience with students from around the world. As a Campus Director for an international student organization at Texas Christian University, I have helped students from over 80 countries improve their English while also learning to communicate confidently in American academic and cultural settings. I previously lived and taught English in Thailand for eight years, giving me firsthand experience understanding the challenges that English learners face and how to help them overcome them with patience and encouragement.
My lessons are ideal for international students, university students, professionals, adults, teenagers, and anyone who wants to improve their English conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, or public speaking skills.
