About Mary
I'm an acting/improv teacher with 7 years experience teaching ages 8-19. I am a regular performer in the NYC area and am always acquiring new ideas and activities to use to be an effective teacher. I graduated in December 2017 from Rutgers University with an MFA in Playwriting, and depending on the student, often use writing-based activities to help students tap into their creativity and generate original material.
Individual and small group acting coaching allows me to identify the special strengths of each individual student and build lesson plans and activities that focus on those strengths and bolster a student's confidence. A sense of play is key in acting and improv lessons, so I love finding ways to engage a student's wacky and creative side and find a way to then channel that perspective into their performances.
