About Natalie
I am a recently retired certified secondary math teacher with 20 years of experience, specializing in all levels of algebra and calculus, and have tutored students for over 17 years. I recognize that many people have a fear or discomfort toward mathematics and I try to break down concepts in order to boost a student’s confidence. I also explain where concepts come from and how they relate to real world situations in order to make the subject meaningful and hopefully enjoyable. EVERY student can succeed at math with the right individualized approach.
I was in the business world as a benefits and energy consultant , and then decided to use my mathematics degree to obtain my masters degree in secondary mathematics education.
I am a certified teacher in secondary mathematics education, endorsed in grades 6 through 12. I have also been certified through the Advanced Placement college board to teach Calculus for the past 15 years.

I usually set up an initial meeting where I start helping them right away in their desired topic in math. I assess and ask the student what goals they have during our sessions. After our first session, we set up a schedule that works best for the student!
I have worked with a huge variety of students with a wide range of abilities. I worked with struggling algebra one freshmen in a behavioral alternative setting and also with ap calculus students, and all subjects in between.
Find someone who not only is highly skilled in the subject , but also knows how to communicate it in an easily understandable manner.
I tutored a young woman taking freshmen level honors geometry. She was terrified of her teacher and of the subject of math. By the end of the school year, she was thriving, and wrote me the most touching letter to thank me for helping her overcome so many obstacles this year.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It’s really helpful if a student can self assess the topics they feel strong in versus those topics where they struggle.
