About Lucas
I listen very attentively. The end goal is understanding the material not just to get the correct answer for the assignment at hand, but also to gain a working knowledge that will serve a student well in the future.
I am at a beginner's level of tutoring, but I would truly enjoy seeing "lightbulb" moments among my students. For students that feel like they have hit an absolute wall in comprehending the material - believe me, I've been there - there is nothing more rewarding than feeling a breakthrough in this mental barrier. Sometimes, just a little outside help is all one needs to achieve this! Witnessing this in my students would be truly satisfactory!
This would be my first time!
This would be my first time in an instruction capacity, but I have just graduated from university, in which I engaged in several math and math-based courses, as well as several writing projects. I have done very well in many of these courses and graduated cum laude.

One thing that I have found frustrating, even with decent teachers, is that we are often given the dots, the principles, but not as often the connections between them. I like to think and communicate holistically, so that is something I would try to use to help students see not only the pieces, but the whole puzzle. Complex concepts require a mastery of the basics. In order to ensure a firm foundation to build upon, I would quiz each new student on the basic, necessary principles before moving ahead.
I have never held a tutoring position before, but as an undergraduate student, I have helped fellow students with their coursework, and have engaged in several group projects where mutual help in understanding the material at hand was needed.
Look for someone who would listen to you. Every student is different and learning styles vary. Math is like a different language; we can be reasonably comfortable with certain words or phrases of this "language", but stringing everything together in proper syntax often proves to be the bigger challenge. Look for someone who will push you to practice, practice, practice! That is the only way for someone learning a new language to obtain fluency!
A standout event for me was my recent graduation. The president of my university said that my class would always be remembered with a certain irony - virtual commencement was a first for all of us. Since I was graduating from two schools (Architecture School and Engineering School), I needed two devices with which to take part in both my schools' Zoom graduation ceremonies. When one school was not saying anything important, I would turn the volume down on that device and turn up the volume of the other, and vice versa. Despite the challenges the world currently faces with this new pandemic, my school managed to pull together a meaningful, virtual ceremony that we are all unlikely to forget anytime soon.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When a student gets stuck, half the battle is formulating what his or her question even is - I have ample experience with this challenge. I think what is more important than a student assessing what he or she is weakest in material-wise is a student's ability to assess how he or she learns best. Do students recognize whether they learn better through visual, verbal, or physical means? This is what I would look for and try to respond to.

Details
To start, I would charge less than perhaps the typical tutor. This is because I am at "beginner level" in this capacity, and want to ensure that I am putting out quality service before I raise my prices to more standard rates.
For this reason, I would initially charge $10 per hour.
