About Fran
Zydeco is a partner dance from Cajun country in Louisiana. Very similar to salsa dancing. Over 20 years experience teaching zydeco, swing, jitterbug and waltz. If you do not have fun during the lessons I will return your misery at no extra charge. 😉 No partner required.
Dance is JOY.
I was born into a dancing family. My little sister was my first dance student!

We start with the basic step and incorporating the rhythmic movements into muscle memory. The key to learning a new dance is the music. I use music with irrisistable tempos and beats. Betcha can't just dance 1! We move into partnering skills: Leaders (men) will learn dance frame and leading techniques while followers focus on following skills.
I work with individuals, couples and groups and am very comfortable with as many as 100 in a class. One of my better strengths is that I can lead followers and I can teach leaders to lead.
Dancing is learned by dancing, not by listening to a dance lecture. If the lesson itself isn't fun, why do it.
Also, Ask the teacher to semake some practice music cds and to recommend some YouTube links for dancing the style you are seeking to learn.
Louisiana zydeco band at the TK club in Conshohohocken on Fathers Day was really fun. Looking forward to the CJ Chenier event coming up at world cafe on July 7. I'll be teaching at that gig.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much time are you willing to practice learning the dance? Those who are bit by a dance bug want to practice their dancing and pursue dance as a recreational activity as often as possible. Those that are learning a dance for a specific purpose, example wedding dance, need to look comfortable, confident and in love. 💓
