About Savannah
Hi, I'm Savannah. When you schedule a teaching session with me, it is uniquely tailored to you. We will talk about your goals, and look at photos together as inspiration. Or you can send me your own photos over email. This helps me get an idea of your aesthetic vibe. Then we can move forward with design ideas and techniques. We can even make a finished cake together, step-by-step.
We can focus on specific piping skills, or I can teach you everything I know about cake decorating; from making and coloring decorative icings, to piping techniques, to fondant-work, and more. It all depends on your goals. I work with a variety of foods, so I am up for the adventure of keto, vegan, paleo, gluten free, or another special diet. Decadence is for everyone!
Don't worry if you don't know exactly what you want to learn. We can talk about it, and look at photos together, to help determine your creative direction.
My favorite things about cake decorating are the opportunity to express my creativity, and make things that make me smile. My favorite way to decorate cake is with buttercream flowers, leaves, and animals. I also enjoy abstract, colorful designs. We can design a cake with your favorite cartoon character on it, or practice beautiful cursive piping, until it's perfect. Maybe you want a three-dimensional, dog-shaped cake, that stands on four legs, made of ingredients dogs can eat, for your dog's birthday. I can help with that. My only rule for designs is that they are made of deliciousness.
I have a lot of fun with experiments, and am happy to accomodate personalized recipes based on your favorite ingredients. I love my job, working with people who have disabilities, and would love the opportunity to bring my caregiving experience into the bakeshop. My classes are open to people of all ages, incomes, and experience levels, because my lesson plans are customized for the individual student.
You and your loved ones can learn to make something as complex and as a Triple Layer Koi Pond Jelly-Cake Showpiece, or I could give you a quick demo of my top 3 piping techniques. Maybe you want to learn how to keep your frosting even, keep the mess minimal, and pipe a beautiful "Happy Birthday" for someone you love. I can help you achieve all your pastry goals in a fun, organized, step-by-step way.
